“Chai B’hem”– a Groundbreaking Platform for Ultra-Orthodox LGBT

With around 70% of Ultra-Orthodox individuals now using the internet, a new website will serve as a central platform for Ultra-Orthodox LGBT individuals and their communities. It will provide Torah-based materials, enable users to ask rabbis and professionals questions about religion and LGBT issues, and publish these Q&As to offer broad knowledge. Additionally, the site will feature articles and facilitate digital and in-person support groups for LGBT individuals, parents, and educators. Managed by Ultra-Orthodox individuals and written in their language, this unique website will address LGBT life within the Ultra-Orthodox community for the first time.

“Chai b’hem” (“you shall live by them”) is a groundbreaking initiative that aims to:

  • Create a website that provides a philosophical and halachic response to the Ultra-Orthodox LGBT community and the circles surrounding them, using Ultra-Orthodox language, terminology, and concepts.
  • Promote well-being, inner peace, and the possibility of a full and worthy life for Ultra-Orthodox LGBT people.
  • Create a virtual space (and hopefully also in-person) for support groups for LGBT people and their parents.
  • Connect professionals and rabbis to the Ultra-Orthodox LGBT issue and putting it on the public agenda.
  • Provide halachic tools and support to the circles surrounding the LGBT person in order to facilitate their acceptance.
  • Post extensive, original Torah-based writings on religion and LGBT issues.
